Shark RV1001AE IQ
This self-emptying robot that is budget-friendly does an okay job on hard floors as well as carpets with low pile. Its combo brush reaches into corners and edges and it automatically increases suction when it detects carpet. It also does a great job of cleaning dirt from carpets in the middle of the pile. The IQ's compact footprint for docks and its self-emptying feature are both nice features. However, if you want to alter the floor level on the map, or set no-go zones, you'll need manually reset it to do this, which can be quite an inconvenience.
The IQ's app has some advanced mapping and automation features but it's missing no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. Its intelligent-pathing navigational system results in greater maneuverability and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, although it tends to get caught up on rug tassels. Its iHome speaker lets you operate the robot by voice commands.
In our tests, we found that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to get rid of a large amount of debris on floors that were not bare and a decent amount of medium-pile rug. It was a little less efficient on shag carpets, which was a struggle to reach dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was capable of maneuvering around chair legs and tight spaces as well as the wooden base of an IKEA step stool. It was slower on floors that were not paved however, it was able to recover speed and performed better than other robots that we evaluated.
The IQ is a more suitable option for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on a charge and does a better job of maneuvering itself around obstacles. It comes with mopping tools that can remove sticky mess. On the other side the iRobot is more durable, has fewer parts that require maintenance or replacement, incurs lower recurring costs, and can create virtual no-go zones with its companion app. It is able to continue cleaning from where it left off, even if the battery is out before it has finished. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice, which can be a big plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S from Eufy isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum around, but it does offer powerful cleaning capabilities at a low price. This robot vacuum is made for those who are budget conscious and don't need a complex mapping system, or even an app to control it. The robot is capable of running for a long time and includes an remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek, with a tempered glass upper deck that covers plastic finished to appear like brushed aluminum. It's a refreshing departure from the utilitarian and industrial designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
In our tests, the eufy 11S was extremely effective at removing large particles and fine dust on hard floors. However, it was unable to provide medium and high pile carpets an effective deep clean. The device is prone to bump into furniture and people along its course. However, it is able to detect obstacles with sensors. When it comes across them, it ceases to move and emits a loud beep so you can manually steer it around the obstacle and get back to work.
Another fantastic aspect of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match the type of floor and level of the mess. The remote control makes it simple to guide the 11S to the desired place.
